Apple Mail (MacOS)

Tutorial on adding an email account to Apple Mail on Mac OS that uses Autodiscover to configure IMAP servers, with manual fallback settings:

If Autodiscover works:

  1. Open Mail.
  2. Choose Mail > Add Account.
  3. Select the type of account you want to add. For an IMAP account, select Other Mail Account.
  4. Enter your email address and password.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Mail will try to configure your account using Autodiscover. If successful, you will see a message that says "Your account has been configured successfully."
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Select the features you want to enable for your account, such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  9. Click Create Account.

If Autodiscover fails:

Follow the steps above, but when Mail asks you to confirm the account settings, select Show Details.

Enter the following settings:

  • Server name: morwen.planetnoc.net
  • Account type: IMAP
  • Port: 993
  • Security: SSL
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password

Click Continue.

Repeat the steps above for outgoing mail, but use the following settings:

  • Server name: morwen.planetnoc.net
  • Port: 465
  • Security: SSL
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password

Click Continue.

Select the features you want to enable for your account, such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

Click Create Account.

Once you have created your account, it should be ready to use. You can send and receive email, and manage your contacts and calendars.
