Apple Mail (iOS)

Tutorial on adding an email account to Apple Mail on iOS that uses Autodiscover to configure IMAP servers, with manual fallback settings:

If Autodiscover works:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Mail.
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. Tap Add Account.
  5. Select the type of account you want to add. For an IMAP account, select Other.
  6. Tap Add Mail Account.
  7. Enter your email address and password.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. Mail will try to configure your account using Autodiscover. If successful, you will see a message that says "Your account has been configured successfully."
  10. Tap Continue.
  11. Select the features you want to enable for your account, such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  12. Tap Save.

If Autodiscover fails:

Follow the steps above, but when Mail asks you to confirm the account settings, tap Manual Setup.

Enter the following settings:

  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Incoming Mail Server: morwen.planetnoc.net
  • IMAP Port: 993
  • Use SSL: Yes
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password

Tap Next.

Enter the following settings for outgoing mail:

  • SMTP Server: morwen.planetnoc.net
  • SMTP Port: 465
  • Use SSL: Yes
  • Authentication: Password
  • Username: Your email address
  • Password: Your email password

Tap Done.

Select the features you want to enable for your account, such as Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

Tap Save.

Once you have created your account, it should be ready to use. You can send and receive emails and manage your contacts and calendars.

Additional notes:

  • If you use a mobile data connection, you may need to enable "Use Cellular Data for Mail" in the Settings app.
  • If you have trouble adding your account, restart your device and try again.
  • If you are still having trouble, contact your email provider for assistance.
